ANNOUNCING THE 2007 ANNUAL LAWS OF LIFE ESSAY CONTEST AWARDS CEREMONY

Character Counts! is pleased to announce the Laws of Life Essay winners for 2007. DaVita Miles, senior at Kent Island High School, was the mid-shore’s overall winner out of 794 entries. Miles received the $2500 Albert Kennerly scholarship as well as $200 for the school’s top award.

Entries from Queen Anne’s County totaled 106. Winners from participating schools included Emily Peet, 6th grader at Centrville Middle School, Katie Marr, 7th grader at Stevensville Middle School, and Rachael Davis, 8th grader at Sudlersville Middle School. Each student received an award of $200.

Teachers sponsoring the students received an award of $100, which included Leah Levy from Kent Island High School, Amy Taylor from Centreville Middle School, Jennifer Dryer from Stevensville Middle School, and Nicole Venuto from Sudlersville Middle School.

Special thanks to the following from Queen Anne’s County who read entries from Caroline and Talbot Counties: Cara Gossard, Linda Friday, Linda Walls, Mary Ruth Meredith, Faye Lister, and Anne Van Benschoten.
