The Character Counts! Advisory Council is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Faye Lister “Teen of Character” Scholarship, awarded to a graduating KIHS senior, and the 2024 Chris Perkins “Teen of Character” Scholarship, awarded to a graduating QACHS senior. These $500 scholarships, made possible through the Centreville and Kent Island Rotary Clubs, are aimed at rewarding students who exemplify the six Pillars of Character:

Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

Friday, April 19th, 2024 by 3:00 PM

Scholarship Parameters – For all applications:

  • Must attend either Queen Anne’s County or Kent Island High Schools.

  • Must be a high school senior going to college or trade school.

  • Nominations can be made by STUDENT or COMMUNITY MEMBER (EX:  Teacher, parent, employer, club moderator, neighbor).

  • All submissions must include a complete application and a Nomination Letter/ Essay that includes the student’s name and school, is 350 words or less, and responds directly to the prompt: Describe in 350 words or less an example(s) of how the student used the six pillars of character working alone or with a team to achieve a goal or project

  • Applicants should use the Six Pillars as a guide (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring & Citizenship).
